How to use this template

  1. Choose your baby's age and usual wake-up time. Nap times and bedtime fill in from age-typical wake windows.
  2. Click any time or note to change it, so it matches your baby's real day.
  3. Add feeding amounts, how your baby likes to be settled, and emergency numbers.
  4. Print it, or choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog to text it to your caregiver.

What to tell a new caregiver

  • Safe sleep, every time: on the back, in the crib, nothing else in it. No sleeping on a sofa with the baby.
  • Sleepy signs your baby shows, and how long they can usually stay awake.
  • How to prepare bottles, and how long milk can sit out. See the breast milk storage chart.
  • What calms your baby when they cry, and that it is always OK to put the baby down safely and call you.
  • Never shake a baby. Tell every caregiver this, every time.

Questions parents ask

What should a baby schedule for a nanny include?

Wake-up, nap and bedtime times, feeding times and amounts, how your baby likes to be settled for sleep, any allergies or medicines, and emergency contacts including your pediatrician.

How strict should a nanny be with the schedule?

Most families treat it as a guide. Ask your caregiver to watch for sleepy and hunger cues, and to keep naps and bedtime within about 15 to 30 minutes of the plan.

Can I edit the template before printing?

Yes. Every field on the template is editable in your browser. Type over the times and notes, then print.
